National Life Insurance Company, one of Bangladesh’s major life insurance providers, marked its 42nd founding anniversary on Thursday (23 April) with a formal programme held at its head office in Kawran Bazar, Dhaka (NLI Tower). The occasion was observed through a balloon release, a cake-cutting ceremony, and an official discussion session.
The programme brought together members of the company’s board and senior management. Among those present were Chairman Toafazzal Hossain, former Chairman Mahmudul Haque Taher, Directors Razia Sultana and Nahrin Rahman, Brigadier General (Retd.) Md Masud Hossain, Chief Executive Officer Md Kazim Uddin, and Deputy Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer Probir Chandra Das, FCA, along with other senior executives and officials of the organisation.
In his remarks, Chairman Toafazzal Hossain stated that National Life Insurance commenced operations on 23 April 1985 as the first private sector life insurance company in Bangladesh. He noted that the establishment of the company represented a significant development in the country’s insurance industry and contributed to the subsequent expansion of private life insurance operators.
He further explained that the insurance sector plays a structured role in the national economy through the mobilisation of household savings. According to him, insurance premiums collected by companies are typically invested in banks and other financial institutions, thereby supporting broader financial circulation and investment activities within the economy.
The Chairman also highlighted the company’s long-standing operational role in encouraging savings behaviour among policyholders. He stated that over the years, National Life Insurance has contributed to investment mobilisation and employment generation while maintaining its activities within the life insurance sector. Following the discussion, he joined directors and senior executives in cutting the anniversary cake.
