Two alleged drug traffickers have been detained in Bhola Sadar upazila during a joint operation conducted by the Coast Guard and police, with approximately one kilogram of cannabis seized from their possession.
According to a press briefing issued at around 12:00 noon on Monday (27 April), Lieutenant Md. Abul Kashem, media officer of the Coast Guard South Zone, confirmed the details of the operation and subsequent arrests.
The individuals arrested have been identified as Md. Monir Hossain and Md. Shahid Sikder. Both are residents of Velumia Union under Bhola Sadar upazila.
Details of the Operation
Lieutenant Kashem stated that the operation was launched in the early hours of Monday following intelligence received through confidential sources. Acting on the tip-off, a coordinated team of the Coast Guard and local police conducted a targeted raid in the Char Gazi Adarshagram area of Velumia Union.
During the search operation, law enforcement personnel recovered approximately one kilogram of cannabis, estimated to have a market value of around 40,000 Bangladeshi Taka. The two suspects were apprehended on the spot in connection with possession and alleged trafficking of the illegal substance.
Following their arrest, both individuals, along with the seized narcotics, were handed over to Bhola Sadar Police Station for further legal proceedings in accordance with existing drug control laws.

He noted that such coordinated drives are part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking networks and protect young people from the growing influence of narcotics.
Authorities have indicated that legal action against the detained individuals is underway and further investigation will be conducted to identify any possible links to broader drug distribution networks operating in the region.
