Two motorcyclists have been killed in a tragic road traffic collision involving a truck in Nachol upazila of Chapainawabganj district, police have confirmed.
The fatal incident occurred at approximately 6:00 am on Sunday (3 May) at Benipur on the Nachol–Adda road. According to police and local sources, the victims were travelling by motorcycle when their vehicle collided head-on with a truck, resulting in their immediate deaths at the scene.
The deceased have been identified as 27-year-old Rabiul Awal Jisan, son of Mozammel from Balutungi village in Shibganj upazila, and 17-year-old Sohaag, son of Salam from Ajipur village in Nachol upazila.
Preliminary information suggests that Sohaag had set out early in the morning to drop his brother-in-law, Rabiul, at Adda. Rabiul, who was employed at the Naogaon office of the Anti-Corruption Commission, had been visiting his in-laws’ residence on leave and was reportedly returning to his workplace when the accident occurred. While travelling from Ajipur towards Dhansura via the Nachol–Adda route, their motorcycle was struck by a truck at Benipur, leading to the fatal crash.
Emergency responders, including personnel from Nachol Police Station and the Fire Service, arrived promptly at the scene. They recovered the bodies and secured the area following the incident. The remains were later handed over to the families of the deceased after legal formalities were completed.
Authorities have confirmed that the truck involved in the collision has been seized. However, the driver managed to flee the scene and is currently absconding. Police have stated that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the driver, and that appropriate legal proceedings have been initiated.
