A six-year-old girl who had been missing for two days has been found dead in a rural area of Kalmakanda upazila in Netrokona district, Bangladesh, after police recovered her body from a paddy field on Wednesday morning.
The deceased, Jannatul, daughter of farmer Asad Mia, was discovered at around 7:00 am in the paddy fields of Sonura Jasiura village in the Pagla area. Police confirmed the recovery and later sent the body for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
According to local residents and family sources, Jannatul went missing on Monday afternoon. Following her disappearance, her family and villagers immediately began searching for her in surrounding areas. Despite extensive efforts, she could not be located on the day she went missing.
As the search continued without success, the Fire Service was informed. Teams then conducted searches in nearby ponds, ditches, and other water bodies in the area. However, no trace of the child was found during those initial operations.
Subsequently, the family filed a General Diary (GD) with Kalmakanda Police Station, formally reporting the child as missing. Police then joined the ongoing efforts to locate her.
After two days of searches, her body was eventually recovered from a paddy field on Wednesday morning.
Police officials stated that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. They added that the exact cause of death will be confirmed once the post-mortem report is completed.

Police Officer-in-Charge Md. Siddiq Hossain of Kalmakanda Police Station confirmed the recovery and stated that legal procedures have been followed, including the sending of the body for autopsy. He further noted that investigators are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
Authorities have not released any conclusions regarding the cause of death, pending forensic examination and official medical findings. The investigation remains ongoing.
