Authorities in Faridpur have recovered the remains of a 35-year-old man from Magura, found inside a sack in Boalmari Upazila. The victim, identified as Rabiul Islam, was discovered on Tuesday, 5 April, at approximately 8:00 pm in the Battala area of Hatkhola village. Rabiul Islam, the son of Golam Sarwar from Sindain village in Mohammadpur Upazila, Magura, earned his living as a power tiller operator.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday evening when local residents observed a white microbus arriving at a secluded spot in the Battala area. Witnesses reported that individuals within the vehicle discarded a large sack by the roadside before attempting a hasty departure. Suspicious of the activity, locals pursued the vehicle, causing the microbus to lose control and overturn.
While several occupants managed to flee the scene following the accident, the community successfully detained two suspects. The apprehended individuals have been identified as Shahzada, a resident of Andarkotha village in Boalmari, and Tapu Saha, son of Pankaj Saha, also from Boalmari. Upon inspecting the discarded sack, locals discovered the body of the victim. The deceased bore a severe throat wound and multiple injuries caused by sharp weapons.
According to statements provided by the victim’s maternal uncle, Musha Mollya, Rabiul Islam had left his home on Tuesday afternoon. He accompanied Shahidul Islam, the son of Hafez Mollya from the same village, to the residence of Shahidul’s son-in-law in Hatkhola village, Boalmari.
It is reported that a dispute arose at the residence concerning the ownership or debt of a motorcycle. Following a heated verbal altercation with Shahidul’s son-in-law, Shahidul Islam reportedly departed the premises, leaving Rabiul behind. Rabiul Islam was not seen alive again. In the wake of the discovery, Shahidul Islam and his son-in-law, Shahidul Haque, have reportedly gone into hiding and remain at large.
Anwar Hossain, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalmari Police Station, confirmed the recovery of the body and the subsequent arrests. Law enforcement arrived at the scene shortly after being notified by locals to take custody of the body and the two detained suspects.
