The international cricketer and former national captain, Mushfiqur Rahim, celebrated Eid-ul-Azha with his family in his hometown of Bogra today, Thursday, 28 May 2026. Adhering to his established routine of returning to his ancestral roots whenever his professional athletic schedule permits, the veteran sportsman joined his local community to mark the major Islamic festival.
Accompanied by his father, Mahbub Hamid, Mushfiqur arrived at the Dharampur-Matidali Nazim Uddin Jiladar Eidgah Maidan in Bogra city during the early morning hours. The father and son stood together to perform the congregational Eid prayers. Following the completion of the religious service, the cricketer spent time on the field interacting with fellow worshippers, exchanging festive pleasantries, and greeting local residents.
After completing the formal rituals, Mushfiqur spoke to the assembled media, issuing a public holiday message that focused on health safety, personal caution, and communal support for marginalized groups during the sacrificial festival.
The specific logistics, administrative data, and observations recorded during the morning congregation are compiled in the table below:

During his press interaction, the cricketer urged the public to remember the less fortunate during their seasonal celebrations.
“I wish to extend my heartiest Eid-ul-Azha greetings and congratulations to all local residents and the people of our nation,” Mushfiqur stated. “I urge everyone to celebrate Eid with their families safely and with proper caution. It is equally vital that we share the joy of this sacrificial Eid with our poor and helpless neighbours.”
Speaking to reporters outside the prayer venue, Mahbub Hamid expressed his gratitude for his son’s presence, noting that Mushfiqur’s demanding international and domestic sporting calendar leaves very little time for family gatherings during the rest of the year.
However, Hamid voiced his disappointment regarding the unexpected absence of his grandson, Mayan. The family had intended to have three generations of the Rahim lineage perform their prayers together at the Dharampur-Matidali ground, repeating a milestone they had successfully met during the previous year’s festival.
“Having my son home for Eid is always a deeply joyful occasion for us,” Mahbub Hamid told the press. “He is generally unavailable throughout the year due to his strict sports protocols; we rarely get to spend time with him outside of these major holidays. My only regret today is that my grandson could not join us at the field because he came down with a mild fever. Had he been well, three generations of our family would have stood together for prayers, just as we did last year.”
