A recreational excursion ended in tragedy on Sunday, 31 May 2026, when a motorcycle carrying two young men collided with a tree in the Monirampur upazila of Jessore. The incident occurred at approximately 21:00 BST at the Khedapara Maniktala junction along the Rajganj–Pulerhat road, resulting in the deaths of both riders.
The two victims were identified as close friends from Nadra village, located within the Kashimnagar union of Monirampur upazila. The operator of the vehicle was 27-year-old Rakib Hossein, son of Ismail Hossein, and the pillion passenger was 23-year-old Mehedi Hasan, son of Kamruzzaman Mintu.
According to statements provided by Faruk Hossein, the maternal uncle of the deceased operator, the pair had travelled to the popular Rajganj Floating Bridge area earlier that evening for a leisure ride. The crash occurred during their return journey home. As the motorcycle approached the Khedapara Maniktala intersection, the vehicle lost control, veered off the road surface, and struck a roadside hog plum tree at high speed.
The force of the impact inflicted critical injuries upon both men. Local residents rushed to the crash site, extracted the victims, and arranged for their immediate transport to the Jessore 250-Bed General Hospital. Despite medical intervention, the attending emergency physicians officially pronounced both Rakib and Mehedi dead at approximately 22:30 BST, roughly an hour and a half after the accident.
