Man Found Hanging After Domestic Incident

A 40-year-old man was found hanging from the beam of his own home following a reported domestic dispute in Kamalganj in the Moulvibazar district. Police recovered the body in the early hours of Tuesday (2 June) from his residence in the village of Purba Balorampur under Patanushar Union.

The deceased has been identified as Rমজান আলী (Romanised: Ramzan Ali), son of Ansar Mia of Balorampur village. He was a father of two children. According to family members and preliminary police accounts, the incident appears to be linked to a domestic altercation that took place several days earlier.

Local sources said that on Friday last week, a heated argument erupted between Ramzan Ali and his wife. During the confrontation, it is alleged that he struck his wife with a traditional weapon. Following the incident, the injured woman received medical treatment at Moulvibazar District Hospital before returning to her parental home.

Investigators and relatives believe that the aftermath of the dispute left the man psychologically distressed. Police have indicated that he may have been overwhelmed by fear of legal consequences and social pressure following the incident, which could have contributed to his suspected suicide. However, authorities emphasised that the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.

Officers from Shamshernagar Police Outpost recovered the body from the house after being informed by locals early in the morning. The body was later sent to the morgue for autopsy and further legal procedures.

Police officials stated that the case is currently being treated as an unnatural death, and an investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the tragedy. No formal case has yet been filed in connection with the death, though earlier domestic violence allegations remain part of the ongoing inquiry.

Residents of the area described the family as generally quiet, expressing shock at the sudden incident. The village has since been left in a state of grief and unease as authorities continue their investigation.
