Two young motorcyclists have been killed in a tragic road crash involving a dump truck on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway in Feni’s Muhuriganj area, early on Thursday morning.
The fatal incident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. in front of the Sultana Filling Station. According to initial accounts, the two friends were travelling home after a seaside trip when their motorcycle was struck from behind by a speeding dump truck, resulting in devastating consequences.
The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Ikbal Hossain Jisan, son of Abu Taiyeb from the Doctor Bari area of Shompur village under Mongolkandi Union in Sonagazi upazila of Feni, and 20-year-old Jihanul Islam Shaon, son of Kamrul Islam Rasul from Gobindapur Patowari Bari under Kalidah Union in Feni Sadar upazila.
Family members and witnesses reported that Shaon had travelled with a group of friends to Guliakhali Beach on Wednesday night for leisure. After spending the night there, the group began their return journey to Feni in the early hours of Thursday. Shaon and Jisan were riding the same motorcycle when the accident occurred shortly after they crossed the Muhuriganj area.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the dump truck was moving at high speed when it collided with the motorcycle from behind. The impact was so severe that Jisan died at the scene. Shaon sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead.
The sudden loss has cast a shadow of grief over both families and their local communities. Relatives described the two friends as cheerful and close companions who often travelled together.
