A long-standing dispute regarding a boundary wall has culminated in a fatal stabbing incident in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila, resulting in the death of a college student and leaving his elder brother severely injured. The altercation occurred on Sunday, 7 June, between 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm in Purba Piyarapur village, located within the Boali Union. According to local residents and police sources, a dispute concerning the demarcation of a boundary wall had persisted for an extended period between the families of the late Faruk and Chhana Haji. On the night of Sunday, an argument escalated between Ruhit, 20, son of the late Faruk, and Rakib, son of Chhana Haji.

Hearing the commotion, Ruhit’s younger brother, Rumon, 18, intervened in an attempt to protect his sibling. Rakib subsequently turned the weapon on Rumon, inflicting critical stab wounds upon him as well.
Both victims were left critically injured and bleeding at the scene. Local residents immediately intervened, rescuing the two brothers and transporting them to Gaibandha General Hospital in a critical condition. Upon arrival, the attending physician pronounced Rumon dead.
