Motorcyclist dies after losing control in Shailkupa

A teenage motorcyclist has died after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a roadside tree in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah district.

The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a junction in the Raghunandanpur area under Nityanandpur Union. The deceased has been identified as Jayanta Sarkar, 18, son of Binananda Sarkar of Zhaudia village in the municipal area.

According to information provided by the family, Jayanta had set out with friends on a motorcycle to attend a Ganga Puja ceremony in the Bakshipur area of the same upazila. He was reportedly riding the motorcycle himself at the time of the incident.

As they reached the Raghunandanpur village intersection, the rider lost control of the vehicle for reasons that are yet to be fully clarified. The motorcycle veered off the road and struck a roadside tree with significant force. The impact caused Jayanta to be thrown from the vehicle, leaving him critically injured on the spot.

Locals and his companions immediately rushed to his aid and transported him to the Upazila Health Complex. However, doctors on duty declared him dead upon arrival, as his injuries were too severe to survive.

The sudden loss has cast a shadow of grief over the local community, particularly in Zhaudia village, where the young man was known among friends and neighbours. Family members were left devastated after receiving the news of his death.

Police confirmed the incident and the circumstances surrounding the accident. Shailkupa Police Station Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir Molla stated that the matter is being recorded and the exact cause of the crash is under review. Authorities are expected to complete the necessary formal procedures following the fatal road incident.

Road accidents involving motorcycles remain a frequent concern in many parts of the region, often linked to loss of control, high speed, or sudden obstacles on rural and semi-urban roads.
