“Without crime prevention and order, no citizen can live in peace,” IGP Baharul Alam said.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has urged citizens to refrain from attacking law enforcement officers, stressing that such actions threaten stability and public safety.

“Let us do our job; please do not attack us. We are part of this society… citizens of this country. How can we ensure stability if we are unable to work? If we cannot perform our duties, how will we move towards a fair election?” he said at a meeting at the Industrial Police-2 office in Gazipur earlier today.

The IGP highlighted a growing trend of law enforcement officers being assaulted while carrying out their duties.

“Police officers are being attacked while enforcing the law, and criminals are being freed from custody. Even traffic police, when instructing drivers to follow the law, are facing violence,” he said.

“No civilized country can function without law enforcement. Without crime prevention and order, no citizen can live in peace,” he added.

With millions set to travel for Eid, the IGP assured that different police units, including the Industrial Police, Traffic Police, Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP), and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), are working to ensure smooth transportation.

He urged workers to avoid road blockades during protests, warning that such disruptions would cause severe public inconvenience. “Those who disrupt public order will face strict legal action,” he cautioned.

Additionally, he appealed to workers not to believe in rumors or engage in destructive protests, emphasizing that vandalism would only harm their workplaces. He also sought media cooperation in countering misinformation.
