Dhaka, 18 May 2025 — Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi has accused the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) of monopolising the July movement and claimed that many of its members are corrupt. He asserted that the unity of July has largely been destroyed due to the actions of NCP.
These remarks were made during a press conference held at the Madhur Canteen in Dhaka University on Saturday.
📣 Key Demands by Inquilab Mancha
At the press conference, Hadi presented Inquilab Mancha’s demand for the formation of a National Government or a National Unity Council, with the mandate to:
| Priority Focus Areas | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Justice for the July Massacre | Ensure accountability for state violence |
| Fundamental Structural Reforms | Overhaul governance and institutions |
| Immediate Arrangement for National Polls | Conduct free and fair elections at the earliest |
🏛️ Proposed Structure of the National Government
Sharif Osman Hadi elaborated on the proposed format for the National Government, which would be headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus, and include:
| Element | Description |
| Leadership | Professor Muhammad Yunus as the Head of Government |
| Representation | All political parties to have representation |
| Role of Representatives | To serve as watchdogs, not ministers or advisers |
| Accountability | Any party refusing cooperation (e.g., BNP, Jamaat) must answer to the nation |
⚠️ Warning Against Instability
Hadi issued a stern warning regarding the potential consequences if the Chief Adviser resigns amid current political tensions:
“If the Chief Adviser steps down now, the country may plunge into civil war. The responsibility will lie with the major political parties.”
He further alleged that some advisers are mediating on behalf of the ruling Awami League and that elements loyal to the previous regime remain entrenched in the police and administration.
🧩 Alleged Political Manipulation
Hadi raised concerns about some advisers using Professor Yunus’s image as a means to retain power for up to five more years, which, he claims, is contributing to a crisis of legitimacy.
“Even if the fascists have fled, their collaborators remain in powerful state institutions.”
📜 The Urgent Need for a ‘July Declaration’
Sharif Osman Hadi stressed the need for a formal July Declaration to ensure:
| Concern | Implication |
|---|---|
| Lack of July Declaration | Will prevent legal justification for banning Awami League |
| Risk of Pre-Election Reversal | Future governments might lift bans under foreign influence (e.g., Delhi) |
| Threat to Freedom Fighters | July movement fighters may face imprisonment or worse without safeguards |
He warned:
“Without the July Declaration, we will not be able to legally proscribe the Awami League. If elections are held beforehand, any upcoming regime might, under Delhi’s advice, lift the ban, and July warriors will be sentenced to death.”
To push this demand, Inquilab Mancha plans to reach out to citizens across the country throughout the upcoming week.
🧭 Final Words from Inquilab Mancha
Concluding the conference, Hadi declared:
“Unless the government commits to a July Declaration, no judge in Bangladesh will deliver a verdict banning the Awami League. This is a dangerous task, but we believe that if our lives must be sacrificed to save this nation, we will have no regrets.”
He reiterated that the current government must stop deflecting responsibility and instead focus squarely on its three main duties:
📌 Summary Table
| Issues Raised | Proposed Actions | Warnings Issued |
| NCP’s control over July Movement | National Government under Prof. Yunus | Civil war if Chief Adviser resigns |
| Corruption among advisers | Inclusion of all parties as watchdogs | Risk of fascist collaborators in admin |
| Absence of July Declaration | Urgent mass campaign for its adoption | Fear of reversal by Delhi-influenced govt |
For further updates, Inquilab Mancha has called for public engagement and national mobilisation in the coming week to demand the issuance of the July Declaration and uphold justice and democratic reforms.
