A targeted police raid on two massage parlours in the capital’s affluent Gulshan neighbourhood resulted in the detention of 54 individuals on Wednesday night. Law enforcement officials launched the synchronized operation following intelligence reports alleging that the commercial establishments were operating as fronts for prostitution and illicit activities.
Acting on specific information regarding anti-social conduct and illegal sex work, officers from Gulshan Police Station entered two separate spa and salon facilities located within the diplomatic zone. The sudden night-time sweep caught operators and patrons off guard, leading to the detention of 29 women and 25 men of varying ages from the premises.
The commercial enclave of Gulshan—renowned for housing foreign embassies, high-end commercial outlets, and luxury residences—maintains strict security protocols. Nevertheless, police sources indicated that several establishments in the area periodically attempt to disguise illegal adult enterprises as wellness, therapy, and personal care centres.
Officers involved in the operation confirmed that formal legal processing for all 54 detained individuals is currently underway. Investigators are assessing the specific roles of the venue owners, operational managers, staff, and visitors present during the raid to determine individual charges under existing laws governing public order and morality.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station, Daud Hossain, emphasized that law enforcement will maintain zero tolerance toward illegal enterprises masquerading as legitimate commercial ventures. He affirmed that police units will not allow any form of unlawful activity to take root behind the facade of health and beauty parlours within the Gulshan zone. Regular surveillance and unannounced raids across suspected facilities throughout the neighborhood will continue unabated to ensure compliance with civil regulations and maintain public order across the metropolitan capital.
