The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has cancelled the candidacies of seven examinees involved in cheating and disciplinary breaches during the 50th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) written examinations. Concurrently, the commission published the second-phase viva voce schedule for 2,160 candidates who passed the written assessment under general cadres.
The official announcements were issued through separate notices signed by BPSC Controller of Examinations (Cadder) Masuma Afrin.
According to the official schedule, the second phase of oral examinations for the 2,160 provisionally qualified general cadre candidates will commence on 25 August and run through 10 September. The interviews will take place daily at the BPSC headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka, starting at 10:00 AM.
A total of 180 candidates will appear before the interview panels each day. The sessions are set to be conducted on 25, 27, 30, and 31 August, as well as on 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 September.
Addressing exam integrity, the BPSC details reveal that seven candidates faced immediate cancellation of their 50th BCS examinations following policy violations and disorderly conduct. Furthermore, five of these candidates received an extended ban from all civil service examinations and post declarations conducted by the commission for the current year and the following year.
Specific infractions behind the penalties include:
Unauthorised Devices and Hall Violations: Two candidates had their 50th BCS exams invalidated after bringing prohibited devices—specifically two smartphones and a smartwatch—into the examination hall, and subsequently leaving the premises without handing their answer scripts to invigilators within the stipulated time.
Cheating and Irrelevant Content: Five candidates were disqualified for copying from each other’s answer scripts and writing offensive, irrelevant content on their test papers. These five individuals were additionally handed the two-year debarment from all future BPSC selection processes.
The commission instructed all eligible candidates to download and complete the prescribed online application form (BPSC Form-1) from the official BPSC web portal. Interviewees must report to the viva venue at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled slot, equipped with the completed form alongside two attested sets of photocopies of all required original certificates.
Candidates must present their original educational and identity certificates directly to the interview board for physical verification. Failure to produce the necessary documentation will lead to immediate cancellation of candidacy, rendering the applicant ineligible to participate in the oral test.
In addition, candidates are required to upload scanned copies of all requested documents via the dedicated Google Form provided by the commission prior to their viva date. Applicants must also complete “BPSC Form-3″—which collects supplementary pre-employment information—online via Teletalk within the specified deadline, submitting two printed copies of the completed form on the day of their interview.
