Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has withdrawn the Officers in Charge (OCs) of two key capital police stations, Tejgaon and Paltan Model, citing administrative reasons.
The directive was issued on Saturday through an official order signed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed. Under the fresh transfer notification, both officers have been relieved of their operational precinct duties and reassigned to Police Headquarters and the administration division.
The affected officers are Inspector (Unarmed) Kya Shwe Nu of Tejgaon Police Station and Inspector (Unarmed) Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Khan of Paltan Model Police Station. The notification specified that their withdrawal and subsequent attachment to administrative posts would take effect immediately from 22 August 2026.
Both Tejgaon and Paltan represent strategically vital jurisdictions within the capital’s law enforcement framework. Paltan houses the central commercial hubs and major political rally grounds of the city, requiring constant crowd monitoring and public order management. Tejgaon, on the other hand, covers a mix of dense industrial zones, commercial establishments, and sensitive VIP thoroughfares connecting northern and southern Dhaka.
Operational changes and reshuffles among station-level commanders are standard institutional mechanisms within the Bangladesh Police service. Such routine reallocations are frequently executed to maintain administrative efficiency, enhance accountability, and respond swiftly to emerging policing priorities across the metropolis.
Following the withdrawal of both inspectors, the administration has initiated procedures to appoint their successors. Acting inspectors or newly designated officers in charge are expected to take over command at Tejgaon and Paltan Model stations promptly to ensure seamless public safety coverage, routine patrols, and the continuation of active investigative work across both vital sectors.
