Renowned Bangladeshi singer and composer Bappa Mazumder has joined forces with acclaimed filmmaker Masud Hasan Ujjal for a compelling new musical venture. The track, titled “Gole Jawa Shomoy”, was officially released alongside its music video on Saturday night, marking a notable collaboration between two prominent figures in the nation’s contemporary cultural landscape.
Mazumder has shouldered the primary creative responsibilities for the single, lending his talents as the lyricist, composer, and lead vocalist. Meanwhile, Ujjal has helmed the project as the director of the accompanying visual narrative.
This partnership brings together distinct creative backgrounds. Mazumder boasts a celebrated career spanning more than three decades, during which he has established himself as a versatile singer, lyricist, composer, and music director. Ujjal, primarily recognised for his distinct vision as a filmmaker and director, has also occasionally crossed paths with the music industry, bringing a cinematic sensibility to this latest project.
In recent times, Mazumder has increasingly turned his hand to lyricism for his own material. While he has historically collaborated with a wide array of accomplished lyricists, he noted that a desire to articulate his personal thoughts directly prompted him to pen his own verses. Ujjal, who selectively chooses his directorial ventures and does not routinely direct music videos, found himself immediately drawn to the track upon hearing it, ultimately deciding to bring his aesthetic to the visual production.
“Gole Jawa Shomoy” follows closely on the heels of Mazumder’s recent release, “Buro Nabiker Golpo”, which similarly featured his own lyrics and composition. The artist has indicated that he intends to pursue this creative trajectory further, continuing to release independent works driven entirely by his own writing and musical direction.
