Bangladesh are set to feature in a high-stakes One-Day International (ODI) tri-series alongside host board Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in the United Arab Emirates this October. The tournament, which forms part of a multi-format tour, will run from 17 to 23 October, serving as a crucial competitive platform for all three participating nations.
Action commences on 17 October when Bangladesh face Zimbabwe in the opening fixture. Hosts Afghanistan enter the fray two days later against Zimbabwe on 19 October, followed by a encounter between Bangladesh and Afghanistan on 21 October. The top two sides will then contest the final on 23 October to decide the series champion.
The ODI sequence builds upon a red-ball encounter scheduled just days prior. Bangladesh and Afghanistan are set to lock horns in a solitary Test match from 9 to 13 October, providing a stern early assessment of both sides’ adaptabilities across formats.
Following the conclusion of the tri-series and Bangladesh’s departure, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will continue their extensive bilateral campaign. The two nations will contest a three-match Twenty20 International series across late October and early November, immediately followed by two Test matches starting on 5 and 13 November respectively.
Emphasising the strategic importance of the comprehensive tour, Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni expressed enthusiasm for the robust schedule. He noted that competing across all three formats against formidable opponents offers invaluable exposure, particularly in the Test arena where opportunities remain keenly sought.
Afghanistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Naseeb Khan echoed those sentiments, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the administrators. Khan praised the strong working relationships among the three boards, commending the mutual cooperation that enabled such an intensive schedule to come to fruition in neutral UAE territory. Neutral venues in the Gulf have increasingly become a crucial hub for international cricket, offering world-class infrastructure and reliable conditions for complex multi-nation events.
