Officers from the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in Manikganj have arrested a suspected drug dealer following a targeted raid on his residence in Ghior upazila. The operation, conducted on Tuesday afternoon, led to the recovery of 50 pieces of Yaba tablets from the suspect’s possession.
The arrest took place at approximately 2:15 pm on 3 November 2026 in South Karjana village, situated within Ward No. 9 of Baratia Union under Ghior Police Station. Acting on specific intelligence regarding illicit narcotics activity, a specialised team led by Sub-Inspector Md. Jamal Hossain raided the residential house owned and occupied by the suspect.
The arrested individual has been identified as 41-year-old Md. Sahadat, son of Md. Mokhles Mulla, a resident of South Karjana village. Officers seized the consignment of Yaba tablets directly from his residence during a thorough search of the premises.
According to preliminary investigation records from the DNC’s Manikganj District Office, Sahadat had been actively involved in the local drug trade for a considerable period. Local intelligence indicates that he allegedly utilised his residential home as a base of operations to distribute synthetic drugs across Ghior upazila and surrounding rural areas.
The raid was executed under the overall supervision of Humayun Kabir Khondakar, Deputy Director of the Department of Narcotics Control in Manikganj. Following the arrest and seizure, law enforcement officers initiated formal legal proceedings against the suspect.
A regular case under the relevant provisions of the Narcotics Control Act is being registered against Sahadat at Ghior Police Station. Official sources confirmed that the seized contraband will be produced as material evidence in court, with authorities preparing to present the suspect before the judicial magistrate following the completion of preliminary administrative formalities. DNC officials reaffirmed that rigorous anti-narcotics operations and surveillance will continue across Manikganj to dismantle local drug distribution networks.
