The incident occurred at approximately 1:15 pm on Wednesday, 9 September, at his family home located on Al Mahmud Avenue in the Hossainpur neighbourhood of Sirajganj town. A heavy downpour accompanied by intense lightning strikes swept across the district during the early afternoon. Onlookers reported a sudden, sharp discharge of lightning near the main entrance gate, which ignited a blaze at the main gas supply riser.

The sudden burst of flames near the gate caused temporary panic among local residents and passersby. Alerted immediately to the emergency, the Sirajganj Fire Service and Civil Defence dispatched a team to the scene. Firefighters arrived within minutes and brought the flames under control, preventing the fire from spreading to the main building or adjacent properties.

Confirming the details, Sirajganj Fire Service Station Officer Md Shariful Islam stated that his unit received the emergency call at around 1:15 pm and responded immediately. Fire personnel swiftly contained the blaze at the gate’s gas riser, ensuring the safety of the entire residential premises.

According to statements provided by the security guard at the gate and eyewitnesses present during the storm, the fire broke out instantly after lightning struck the gas riser pipe. Officials confirmed that the incident caused no casualties, structural damage, or major loss of property. The situation was declared completely under control shortly after the fire service intervention.
