Acting on specific intelligence regarding illegal narcotics trade in the area, a specialized operational team conducted the mid-day raid around 12:15 pm on 4 October 2026. The operation was carried out under the direct supervision of Humayun Kabir Khondakar, Deputy Director of the Manikganj District DNC office, and led by Sub-Inspector Morshed Alam.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Md Kawsar, was apprehended directly from his homestead in Kafatia village, situated under Putail Union within Manikganj Sadar Upazila. Kawsar is the son of the late Ador Ali and Salma Akter. Upon searching the premises occupied by the suspect, officers seized the contraband psychotropic pills, which were subsequently seized as physical evidence.

Local law enforcement agencies have intensified surveillance across Manikganj Sadar Upazila in response to concerns over the proliferation of synthetic drugs amongst local youths. Yaba, a potent combination of methamphetamine and caffeine, remains a primary focus of anti-drug enforcement efforts due to its widespread abuse and destructive impact on rural communities. Authorities noted that targeted intelligence-led raids serve as a crucial mechanism to disrupt localized supply chains before drugs reach vulnerable individuals.

Following the arrest, DNC officials initiated a regular criminal case against Kawsar at the Manikganj Sadar Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act. The suspect remains in custody pending formal court proceedings, while authorities maintain vigilant monitoring across the district to curtail further narcotics distribution.
