Four individuals posing as journalists and human rights activists have been apprehended in Naogaon for attempting to defraud people during the mediation of a land dispute. The arrest was made by police based on intelligence gathered by security agencies.

Background of the Incident
Police from Naogaon Sadar Thana stated that the accused arrived in the area pretending to mediate a land-related dispute involving a woman named Nilufar Yasmin. They introduced themselves to local residents as members of a legal aid organisation and journalists associated with a national television channel.
Upon receiving intelligence from a law enforcement agency, police conducted a raid at the location and arrested all four individuals. Investigators also recovered various materials used to support their fraudulent identities, including a car bearing a fake press sticker, electronic devices, and falsified identification documents.
Ongoing Investigation
Law enforcement authorities revealed that the accused have previously posed as government officials to extort money from ordinary citizens. Their tactics reportedly included intimidation, coercive settlements, and the spreading of false information on social media.
Naogaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Md. Noor-e-Alam Siddique, said:
“One of the individuals had previously been accused in an extortion case, where he claimed to be a representative of the Anti-Corruption Commission. The matter is under investigation, and if the allegations are proven true, appropriate legal action will be taken.”
