Ishrak Hossain to Announce Final Resignation Decision at 2pm

Ishrak Hossain has announced that he will make a final declaration on his resignation from the post of State Minister for Liberation War Affairs at 2pm on Monday, 19 October. He is scheduled to address journalists at the National Press Club, where he is expected to clarify his decision regarding his ministerial position.

Hossain disclosed the plan in a post published on his verified Facebook page on Monday morning. In the statement, he said he would appear before the media at the National Press Club at 2pm to make the final announcement about stepping down from the ministry.

The announcement comes amid public discussion surrounding his possible resignation, with reactions emerging on social media. Referring to the enthusiasm expressed by some people over the prospect, Hossain also made a political appeal to supporters who may be living abroad.

He said he hoped that, if the country required future movements or political struggles, those supporters would return from overseas and take part, inspired by nationalist ideals. His remarks suggest that he intends to maintain an active role in political and organisational activities, regardless of the position he ultimately holds in the government.

Hossain also outlined how he expects to continue his work if he steps down. He said he would remain engaged as a worker of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), rather than acting in the capacity of a Member of Parliament or State Minister. He specifically pledged to work with greater enthusiasm against drug abuse and to intensify efforts aimed at eliminating drugs from society.

Alongside his anti-drug activities, Hossain said he planned to strengthen cleanliness initiatives. He also indicated that he would visit different districts across the country to expand the organisational reach of the Projonmo Dal, a political organisation associated with his activities.

His stated priorities place particular emphasis on grassroots engagement, public campaigns and organisational development. The proposed district visits would provide opportunities to connect with local activists and supporters, although details of the schedule and scope of these activities have not been disclosed.

Hossain ended his Facebook post with a repeated slogan underscoring his declared priority: “Not a minister, but the elimination of drugs! Eliminate drugs, eliminate drugs!”

His planned appearance at the National Press Club is expected to provide further clarity on the timing and circumstances of his intended resignation. Until he makes the formal announcement, the full details of his decision remain to be confirmed.
