Madrasa Teacher Arrested in Mymensingh Over Child Sexual Abuse

Police in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, have arrested a madrasa teacher following allegations of sexually abusing a seven-year-old female pupil. The suspect, identified as Mohammad Ali, was remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday afternoon after the victim’s father formally lodged a police complaint.
The accused hails from the Kachua area in Bagerhat district and served as a Bengali language teacher at Madrasatut Taqwa, a Qawmi institution situated in the Tashor Chowrasta neighbourhood of Hobirbari union under Bhaluka sub-district.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on the morning of 2 November when the young girl, a second-standard student, approached the teacher to submit her classwork. Ali reportedly displayed inappropriate gestures towards the child and attempted to solicit an improper relationship by showing explicit videos on his mobile phone. Following the end of classes, the distressed child returned home and disclosed the ordeal to her family.
When news of the incident spread, indignant residents in the locality gathered at the madrasa premises, detained the instructor, and alerted law enforcement authorities. Officers from Bhaluka Model Police Station arrived swiftly at the scene to take him into official custody. During initial questioning conducted in the presence of local residents, the accused admitted his involvement in the improper conduct.
Subsequent searches conducted inside the suspect’s residence within the madrasa premises uncovered an extensive array of dubious items. Investigators seized a substantial quantity of herbal aphrodisiacs, occult texts, treatises on black magic, amulets, and photographs of over a hundred individuals inscribed with esoteric incantations.
Preliminary enquiries indicate that the suspect used his teaching credentials as a facade to conduct fraudulent traditional healing practices, occult rituals, and anti-social activities within the educational setting.
Jahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, confirmed the arrest and subsequent legal proceedings. He stated that a formal case had been registered under the relevant sections of the law based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father. Following his admission of guilt during preliminary interrogation, the court directed that the accused be remanded in jail, whilst police enquiries continue into the broader scope of his fraudulent activities.
