The temporary court order prohibiting Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader (GM Quader) and the party’s Joint Office Secretary Mahmud Alam from carrying out organisational activities has been revoked. The related case has also been withdrawn.
On Tuesday, 12 August, Acting Judge Robayet Ferdous of the First Joint District Judge’s Court in Dhaka issued the order.
On Wednesday, 13 August, GM Quader’s lawyer, Monowar Hossain Alam, confirmed the development. He stated that on 2 August, the plaintiff in the case, Jatiya Party Senior Co-Chairman Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, filed an application to withdraw the lawsuit. On 11 August, the case was transferred to the Dhaka Joint District Judge’s Court, and the next day, Judge Robayet Ferdous approved the withdrawal request. Simultaneously, the temporary ban on GM Quader and Mahmud Alam’s party activities was lifted, meaning there are no longer any restrictions on GM Quader’s organisational work.
Previous Court Ban
Earlier, on 30 July, following a petition from the plaintiff, the court had imposed a temporary ban on the organisational activities of GM Quader and Mahmudul Alam. At the same time, it reinstated the primary and organisational positions of ten party leaders, including Co-Chairman Anisul Islam Mahmud.

The court’s earlier order also instructed that organisational activities be carried out in sequence according to seniority.
Background of the Case
According to the case statement, on 18 July 2019, the party’s then Secretary General, Moshiur Rahman Ranga, announced GM Quader as the party’s Chairman in violation of the party constitution. Later, on 28 December 2019, GM Quader convened a party conference and council where he allegedly approved a new constitution unlawfully.
Most recently, on 28 June 2025, seven Presidium Members were removed from all positions, including their primary membership, followed by the removal of three more. Their names were also deleted from the party’s official website.
On 10 July 2025, the lawsuit was filed on behalf of the ten leaders, including Anisul Islam Mahmud, who had been removed.
