Russia launched 85 attack drones and a ballistic missile against Ukraine overnight, Ukrainian authorities said on Saturday, just hours after a high-profile meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Alaska.
The summit, held in the remote US state, concluded without any breakthrough in ending Russia’s more than three-year-long invasion of Ukraine.

The airforce’s daily report indicated that the attacks occurred overnight on 16 August, beginning in the evening of 15 August — coinciding with the Trump-Putin negotiations.
Kyiv reported that its air defences successfully intercepted 61 of the drones.

The Trump-Putin summit concluded without a ceasefire announcement, despite sustained Western pressure on the Kremlin to halt hostilities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not publicly commented on the talks.
