Jamaat and NCP Do Not Want Elections in the Country: Dulu

Advocate Md. Ruhul Kuddus Talukdar Dulu, member of the BNP National Executive Committee and former Deputy Minister, has alleged that new conspiracies are being hatched ahead of the forthcoming February elections.

Speaking at a religious programme in Natore, he accused Jamaat-e-Islami and the NCP (National Committee Party) of plotting to prevent the polls from taking place.

Dulu’s Statement at the Event

On Saturday, 16 August, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a 32-hour-long, four-day-long Mahanam Yajna and Ashtakalin Leela Kirtan at Bhusongacha in Naldanga upazila, Dulu remarked: “Fresh conspiracies have begun centring the February elections. Jamaat and NCP do not want elections in this country. They have started new schemes and plots.”

He emphasised that people must resist such moves through unity: “The election will be held. The people of this country will cast their votes for whomever they prefer. If they favour me, they will vote for me. If not, they will vote for any of you. But these conspirators must be confronted collectively.”

Dulu further alleged that he was deliberately sidelined in the last four general elections: “I was not allowed to participate in any of the previous four parliamentary elections. Yet all the development works in Natore have been carried out through my efforts. Meanwhile, the fascist Awami League government’s MPs and ministers have looted funds meant for the people and have dragged Bangladesh backwards.”
