Last Day of DUCSU Nomination Forms: Which Student Organisations Collected Forms

On the final day for collecting nomination forms for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election, all active student organisations on campus were seen obtaining forms to participate in the upcoming polls.

On Monday, 18 August, the Senate Building of Dhaka University was crowded with prospective candidates collecting their forms. However, as of the time of reporting, no student organisation has announced its full panel.

It is understood that many are collecting forms at the last minute to finalise more inclusive panels. Some claim this is a strategic move for the election, while others have not yet completed assembling their panels.

Abdul Quader, convener of the Bangladesh Democratic Student League (BDSU) Dhaka University branch, said, “Many candidates collect forms at the last moment as part of an election strategy. Discussions also continue among members on how to structure the panel more effectively. We are also collecting nomination forms at the last moment as a strategic move.”

Meanwhile, the Islami Chhatra Shibir panel was expected to be announced at 11:00 AM, but it has not yet been declared.

At 2:30 PM, the Chhatra Dal panel is scheduled to collect its forms. Prior to this, panels from Bangladesh Democratic Student League, Swadhin Bangladesh Chhatra Shangha, Chhatra Adhikar Parishad, and the Left Alliance have collected their forms, along with other independent groups.

According to the election schedule, nomination form distribution began on 12 August. In the first six days, a total of 125 candidates collected forms for DUCSU:

Position Number of Candidates Collected Forms
Vice President (VP) 19
General Secretary (GS) 2
Assistant General Secretary (AGS) 5
Secretary 44
Members 55

So far, 38 candidates have submitted their nomination forms, most of whom are independent candidates. On the final day, all student organisations are collecting forms together, preparing for the upcoming election.

This last-minute activity highlights the strategic manoeuvring and panel finalisation that characterises DUCSU elections, reflecting both competition and organisational planning among the student bodies.
