Zelensky: Russia Must Not Be Rewarded for War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Monday that Russia should not be “rewarded” for its ongoing war, just hours ahead of critical talks with US President Donald Trump.

Speaking on social media, Zelensky warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin would continue to carry out demonstrative killings to maintain pressure on Ukraine and Europe, and to undermine diplomatic efforts.

“Putin will commit demonstrative killings to maintain pressure on Ukraine and Europe, as well as to humiliate diplomatic efforts,” Zelensky wrote.
“Russia should not be rewarded for its participation in this war.”

The remarks come ahead of high-stakes discussions in Washington, where Zelensky is expected to seek security guarantees and support for Ukraine amid ongoing conflict with Russia.

These comments underline Kyiv’s position that any negotiations or agreements should not legitimise or incentivise Russian aggression, emphasising the need for accountability and sustained international backing.
