Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has arrived in Dhaka on a three-day official visit.
He landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday (23 August) at noon aboard a special flight, where he was welcomed by Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam.
According to official sources in Dhaka, during this visit, agreements are expected to be signed between the two countries concerning visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and official passports, the formation of a working group on bilateral trade, and cooperation among their respective state news agencies, foreign service academies, and strategic government research institutions.
Additionally, a previously signed cultural cooperation agreement will be renewed. Matters expected to be discussed at the ministerial level include the genocide committed by Pakistani forces during the 1971 Liberation War, the transfer of Bangladesh’s share in pre-independence joint assets, and the repatriation of stranded Pakistanis.
The Pakistani Foreign Minister is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, as well as leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami.
