A clash took place between the leaders and activists of the Jatiya Party and Gono Adhikar Parishad in Kakrail, Dhaka. Several individuals, including Gono Adhikar Parishad president Nurul Haq Nur, were seriously injured in the incident. Although Nur has regained consciousness, he is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU.
Meanwhile, the legal adviser, Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul, strongly condemned and protested the attack on Nurul Haq Nur.
On Friday (29th August) at around 11 p.m., he posted his protest on his verified Facebook page.
In the post, Professor Asif Nazrul wrote: “I strongly condemn and protest the barbaric attack on VP Nurul Haq Nur.”
In response to the legal adviser’s post, several people, including NCPI leader Hasnat Abdullah, expressed their anger in the comments section.
Hasnat Abdullah, a leader of the National Citizens’ Party (NCPI), vented his frustration in a direct post, targeting the legal adviser.
Another well-known figure, Neela Israfi, also commented on the legal adviser. Late on Friday night, she posted on Facebook: “Sir, how much more drama? Three times a day, condemnation; five times a day, protests. It feels like you’ve set up Parliament on Facebook. Your famous dialogue, ‘Oh, if I could be Dash Dash,’ is now being updated to, ‘Oh, if he could send the army back to their real home!’”
Neela Israfi continued: “Imagine this: the soldiers are standing in line, with forms in hand, and the destination is BRAC. Meanwhile, you are live on Facebook, saying, ‘I strongly protest that the seats are limited, so I’m asking for double seats for the soldiers.’”
Finally, the former NCPI leader wrote: “Sir, your time to teach law was a decade ago. Now your real job is sending the army back home and making people laugh. So, stop the drama and start doing your job. Quickly arrange for the soldiers to return to their homes. Sir, your title is not ‘Legal Adviser,’ it is actually ‘Facebook Protest Adviser.’”
It is noteworthy that at around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, a violent clash broke out in front of the National Party office in Kakrail, involving chasing and stone-throwing. During the incident, Nur was seriously injured. His party members quickly rescued him and took him to the hospital in a bloodied state.
Currently, Nur is receiving treatment in the ICU. His Facebook page has confirmed that he has regained consciousness.
