As part of the regulations, all candidates are required to submit dope test samples within this period. Any candidate whose test result is found to be positive will face immediate cancellation of their candidature.

The announcement was confirmed on Sunday morning, 14 September, by Professor Dr Monir Uddin, the Chief Election Commissioner for the CUCSU elections.

Key Guidelines

  • Nomination Fees: Tk. 200 for hall union candidates and Tk. 300 for central union candidates.
  • Dope Test Procedure:
    • Candidates will be provided with a card while collecting nomination papers.
    • Using this card, they must deposit a Tk. 350 fee and provide samples at the CU Medical Centre.
    • A positive dope test result will automatically disqualify the candidate.

Professor Dr Monir Uddin stated: “We began distributing nomination papers from 9:00 am today, and the process will continue for three days. Candidates must collect their forms within this timeframe as no extensions will be allowed.”

He further emphasised: “Considering the students’ convenience, we kept the fees minimal. The dope test ensures transparency and accountability. If a candidate fails, their candidacy will be cancelled without exception.”

On the election environment, he remarked: “We are very optimistic. Though some members of the commission may have political identities, we will conduct the election with complete transparency. No student organisation has attempted to obstruct our work so far. Our goal is to deliver a fair CUCSU election that truly reflects the students’ rights.”

The CUCSU election schedule was announced on 28 August. According to the timeline:

  • The preliminary list of candidates will be published on 21 September.
  • The final list will be published on 25 September.
  • Voting is set to take place on 12 October 2025.

This marks a significant step in restoring democratic practice within Chittagong University, with authorities pledging to ensure a transparent and student-focused electoral process.
