Chief Adviser to Travel to New York with Four Politicians

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser, is set to travel to New York tonight (Sunday, 21 September) to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He will be accompanied by four political leaders.

Travel and Itinerary

  • Departure from Dhaka: Sunday night, 21 September 2025

The schedule was confirmed to the media by Foyez Ahmad, Senior Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser.

 

Prior to the trip, Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain told reporters that Dr. Yunus will present to world leaders the reforms undertaken over the past year, as well as the commitment to establishing a truly democratic system through the forthcoming national elections.

In addition, Dr. Yunus will attend a high-level conference on 30 September, titled: “High-Level Conference on the Situation of Rohingya Muslims and Other Minorities in Myanmar”

This conference will be presided over by the President of the United Nations General Assembly and is aimed at discussing humanitarian issues and international cooperation concerning minority communities in Myanmar.

 

This visit underscores the Chief Adviser’s dual focus on democratic reform in Bangladesh and international human rights advocacy, reflecting the country’s engagement on both domestic and global platforms.
