Mirza Abbas, senior adviser to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and member of parliament for Dhaka-8, has been flown to Singapore for advanced medical treatment.
The specially equipped air ambulance departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:25 am on Sunday. Abbas was accompanied by his wife, Afroza Abbas, their eldest son, Mirza Yasir Abbas, and a personal physician. The confirmation came from his personal secretary, Mizanur Rahman Sohel.
Earlier that morning, at 9:10 am, the air ambulance had arrived in Dhaka to prepare for the critical transfer.
Abbas, a member of the BNP’s standing committee, fell seriously ill last Wednesday evening, losing consciousness. He was immediately admitted to Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara, where a medical board was formed to oversee his treatment. He subsequently underwent two brain surgeries.
On Saturday morning, a CT scan of Abbas’s brain was conducted. According to Rafiqul Islam, BNP’s health affairs secretary, the results were reported as favourable.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has closely monitored Abbas’s condition throughout this period. He personally visited Evercare Hospital on Friday afternoon to check on the senior BNP leader.

The transfer to Singapore is intended to provide Abbas with access to advanced neurological care that is currently unavailable in Bangladesh. Authorities and family members have expressed hope for his continued recovery.
