Residents across several commercial and residential areas in Baraigram upazila under Natore district face an eight-hour electricity supply suspension on Wednesday, 4 November. The planned power cut is required to facilitate essential line maintenance and the clearing of tree branches along overhead power distribution cables. Natore Palli Bidyut Samity-2 formally communicated the planned outage schedule through an official notice released on Tuesday, 3 November.
According to the official circular, the temporary shutdown will directly impact consumers connected to Feeder No. 1 under the Baraigram-3 (Garmati) substation. Power supply will be disconnected at 8:30 am and is scheduled to remain off until 4:30 pm. Technical teams will be deployed along the feeder network throughout the day to prune overgrown tree branches hanging perilously close to live cables, a routine procedure deemed necessary to prevent line tripping, short circuits, and severe electrical hazards during power transmission.
The eight-hour disruption will affect households, retail shops, local businesses, and agricultural facilities in six key localities: Moshinda, Belgachi, Dogachi, Kadimchilan, Mukimpur, and Kathalbaria. With electricity unavailable during core daytime hours, local residents have been advised to complete essential household chores, fill water storage tanks, and charge electronic devices prior to the 8:30 am shutdown to mitigate daily inconvenience.
Officials from the rural electrification authority clarified that the duration of the power cut remains contingent upon the progress made by field maintenance crews. Should technical teams finish the trimming work and complete mandatory safety assessments ahead of the estimated schedule, power distribution will be re-established immediately without delay.
Natore Palli Bidyut Samity-2 expressed sincere regret for the temporary disruption and inconvenience experienced by consumers in the affected regions. Authority officials stressed that such preventive maintenance is indispensable for ensuring long-term grid stability, minimising unexpected power failures, and maintaining safe electricity distribution throughout the upazila.
