Bangladesh’s foreign exchange market continues to play a crucial role in the country’s economy, with millions of expatriate Bangladeshis sending remittances from different parts of the world and businesses relying on international trade transactions. As a result, daily currency exchange rates have become an important indicator for individuals, importers, exporters, and overseas workers who need to convert foreign currencies into Bangladeshi taka.
On Saturday, 1 August 2026, the exchange rates of several major international currencies against the Bangladeshi taka were reported. The rates show notable differences among currencies, reflecting global market movements, foreign exchange demand, and broader economic conditions.
The United States dollar remained one of the most closely monitored currencies, with 1 US dollar valued at Tk 123.34. The British pound maintained a stronger position, with 1 pound exchanging at Tk 167.06, while the euro stood at Tk 145.05. These currencies are particularly significant for Bangladesh because a large number of expatriate workers live in Europe, the United Kingdom, and North America, contributing substantially to the country’s remittance inflows.
Currencies of major Middle Eastern countries also remained important due to the large Bangladeshi expatriate population in the Gulf region. The Saudi riyal was valued at Tk 33, while the UAE dirham stood at Tk 33.72. The Kuwaiti dinar continued to be among the highest-valued currencies, with 1 dinar equivalent to Tk 402.70. The Omani rial and Bahraini dinar were also traded at relatively high rates, reflecting their strong positions in international currency markets.
Asian currencies showed comparatively different exchange values. The Malaysian ringgit was traded at Tk 30.31, while the Singapore dollar reached Tk 96.55. The Indian rupee was valued at Tk 1.25, whereas the Japanese yen and South Korean won were valued at Tk 0.789 and Tk 0.08494190 respectively.
Currency rates are influenced by several factors, including international market trends, inflation levels, interest rate movements, foreign currency demand, and central bank policies. For Bangladesh, exchange rate movements have a direct impact on remittance values, import costs, export competitiveness, and consumer prices.
The listed rates represent indicative exchange values and may change at any time depending on market conditions. Banks, authorised money exchange institutions, and financial service providers may apply slightly different rates based on transaction types, service charges, and prevailing market demand.
