Bangladesh Currency Rates Show Moderate Market Stability

Bangladesh’s foreign exchange market continued to reflect the changing dynamics of global trade and economic activity as major international currencies maintained varying exchange values against the Bangladeshi taka on 12 July 2026.

With the country’s international commerce expanding steadily, foreign currency exchange rates have become increasingly significant for importers, exporters, overseas workers, and businesses involved in cross-border transactions. The value of the taka against major global currencies often responds to movements in international markets, remittance inflows, import demand, and monetary policy decisions.

According to information from the Bangladesh Bank and commercial banking sources, the exchange rates of several major foreign currencies against the Bangladeshi taka were recorded as follows on the day.

Currency Exchange rate against Bangladeshi taka
US Dollar Tk 122.85
Euro Tk 140.20
British Pound Tk 164.68
Canadian Dollar Tk 86.75
Australian Dollar Tk 85.38
Chinese Yuan Tk 18.11
Singapore Dollar Tk 95.07
Indian Rupee Tk 1.28
Malaysian Ringgit Tk 30.29
Saudi Riyal Tk 32.86
Qatari Riyal Tk 33.84
Kuwaiti Dinar Tk 398.16
UAE Dirham Tk 33.57

Currency exchange rates may change throughout the day depending on market conditions, international currency movements, and the policies adopted by financial institutions.

Financial sector analysts said the exchange market has shown signs of greater stability in recent months due to stronger monitoring by the central bank and a comparatively positive trend in remittance inflows. The narrowing gap between official exchange rates and open-market rates has helped reduce uncertainty for businesses and individuals requiring foreign currencies.

Over the past month, the average exchange rate of the US dollar has remained within a range of around Tk 122.75 to Tk 123, providing some relief to importers and traders who rely heavily on foreign currency payments. A relatively stable dollar rate is considered beneficial for managing import costs, particularly for essential commodities, industrial raw materials, and energy-related purchases.

Economists have also highlighted that maintaining a balanced foreign exchange market remains crucial for Bangladesh’s broader economic stability. A steady flow of remittances, effective currency management, and improved confidence in the financial system are expected to play an important role in supporting the taka’s position against major global currencies.

However, market participants remain cautious as global economic conditions, interest rate decisions in major economies, commodity prices, and international trade movements could influence future currency fluctuations.
