Bangladesh Football League After 34 Days, League Logo Finally Unveiled

Published: 24 Nov 2025, 02:59 am

Domestic football returns in Bangladesh after 34 days, with the second round having ended on 20 October. The break, caused by national team duties, offered clubs time to recover but also exposed challenges in maintaining competitive momentum. Tomorrow, four matches across different venues will resume the Bangladesh Football League, signalling a crucial period for all teams.

The marquee clash is between Abahani and Mohammedan, whose rivalry has shaped Bangladeshi football for decades. Mohammedan, last season’s league champions after 22 years, have had a poor start this term with only one point from two games. Abahani face a similar plight. Both teams will be desperate to claim three points. Adding tension, Mohammedan’s players have issued an ultimatum over unpaid wages, highlighting ongoing financial and administrative issues in domestic football.

Meanwhile, Fortis will host Police at the Kings Arena, Bashundhara Kings take on Arambagh in Manikganj, and Fakirerpool Youngmens meet Brothers Union in Munshiganj. Rahmatganj and PWD will clash in a solitary fixture the following day.

Although the league started on 26 September, BFF had not deployed its official logo in the first two rounds. From the third round onwards, the Petronas-sponsored logo will be used. The late unveiling has sparked debate among fans, with many considering the design uninspiring. Fahad Karim, BFF Marketing Committee chairman, explained that the logo was designed thoughtfully and any similarity to other brands is coincidental.

The resumption of play is not just about football on the pitch—it is also a test of organisational efficiency, professionalism, and fan engagement in Bangladesh’s top-tier domestic league.
