The exchange rates of the Bangladeshi taka against major international currencies remained a key reference point for expatriate Bangladeshis, importers, exporters, travellers and businesses engaged in cross-border transactions on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
More than 10 million Bangladeshis live and work abroad, particularly in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and other major overseas labour markets. Their remittances are an important source of foreign exchange for Bangladesh, while businesses also rely on international currencies to settle import payments, export proceeds and other commercial transactions. As a result, daily currency rates are closely watched by households, traders and financial institutions.
On 11 August, the US dollar was quoted at Tk 122.84, while the British pound stood at Tk 166.77. The euro was valued at Tk 144.97. Among the Gulf currencies, the Omani rial was one of the highest-valued currencies listed at Tk 320.25, followed by the Bahraini dinar at Tk 327.86 and the Kuwaiti dinar at Tk 402.22.
The Malaysian ringgit was priced at Tk 30.20, while the Saudi riyal stood at Tk 33. The UAE dirham was quoted at Tk 33.65 and the Qatari riyal at Tk 33.96. These currencies are particularly relevant to Bangladesh because a large share of the country’s overseas workers are employed in Gulf and other Asian markets.
Elsewhere, the Singapore dollar was valued at Tk 96.93 and the Australian dollar at Tk 87.41. The Canadian dollar stood at Tk 88.38, while the New Zealand dollar was quoted at Tk 72.82. The Swiss franc was valued at Tk 148.76.
In Asia, one Japanese yen was equivalent to Tk 0.778, while the South Korean won stood at Tk 0.08701555. The Indian rupee was quoted at Tk 1.25. The South African rand, meanwhile, stood at Tk 7.64.
Currency exchange rates can vary between banks, money-exchange outlets and other authorised channels because of market conditions, transaction costs and differences between buying and selling rates. The figures listed below should therefore be treated as indicative rates rather than guaranteed transaction prices.
