Bangladeshi Hajj Returnees Reach 56,868

A total of 56,868 Bangladeshi pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia following the completion of this year’s Hajj, according to data up to Sunday.

An official from the Hajj Office stated on Monday (15 June) that the return operations have been carried out through three designated airlines. In total, 134 return flights have been operated so far to facilitate the repatriation of pilgrims from Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh.

Among these flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated 63, Saudia Airlines conducted 50, and Flynas Airlines completed 21 flights. These coordinated air services have been responsible for transporting returning pilgrims following the conclusion of the Hajj season.

According to the Hajj Office’s breakdown of returnees, 4,313 pilgrims have returned under government management, while the majority—52,555 pilgrims—have returned through private travel agencies. This distribution reflects the predominant reliance on private arrangements for Hajj travel, alongside the government-managed quota.

In terms of health and mortality statistics, 52 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia during this year’s Hajj period. Of them, 35 were men and 17 were women. The geographical distribution of the deaths shows that 37 occurred in Makkah, 14 in Madinah, and one in Jeddah. No deaths were reported in Mina or Muzdalifah, according to the official record.

The Hajj bulletin further noted that 415 Bangladeshi pilgrims received treatment in various hospitals across Saudi Arabia due to different illnesses. Among them, 16 pilgrims were reported to have been admitted for inpatient care.

Officials have continued to monitor the health situation of returning pilgrims and coordinate repatriation flights to ensure the gradual and organised return process is completed.
