India are currently competing in New Zealand, where the team is slated to play a total of 12 matches across white-ball and red-ball formats, comprising both T20 Internationals and One Day Internationals (ODIs). To counter the physical toll of back-to-back fixtures, Indian team management has established a broadened pool of fast bowlers, ensuring seamless rotation without compromising match readiness or bowling depth.

Explaining the operational philosophy behind the strategy, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel highlighted the importance of cultivating a versatile squad capable of stepping in across varying conditions. Morkel noted that maintaining a flexible group of seamers allows the coaching staff to assess pitch conditions and match dynamics before deciding on the primary attack for any given fixture.

Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh features prominently within the expanded setup. Morkel praised Arshdeep’s relentless work ethic and adaptability, expressing strong confidence in the bowler’s ability to transition effectively into red-ball cricket alongside his established white-ball credentials.

Communication forms a crucial pillar of the new policy, with every bowler explicitly briefed on their expected roles across different formats. Several fast bowlers are being systematically rotated through India ‘A’ tours to maintain match sharpness and build endurance. The rotation protocol applies across both 50-over ODIs and Test matches, ensuring that key assets like Jasprit Bumrah are rested strategically while keeping the wider pace attack fully prepared for international duty.
