Pop superstar Billie Eilish has called for urgent action on gun control following a devastating series of shootings across the United States and Australia, posting a heartfelt tribute to victims while urging her followers to vote in the upcoming elections on Sunday, 14 December 2025.
In an Instagram Story post, Eilish wrote: “Today is the anniversary of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, & we woke up to the news of mass shootings in Australia, at Brown University, & in Brooklyn. This is so devastating. My heart goes out to all of the victims & their loved ones.”
The nine-time Grammy Award winner further implored her followers to “raise your voice, work for change, & vote out anyone who’s not willing to reform gun policy.” Eilish has been a long-time advocate for stricter gun legislation in the United States and has actively participated in initiatives such as The Artist for Action to Prevent Gun Violence alongside Sheryl Crow, Peter Gabriel, and Rufus Wainwright.
The shootings this week coincided with the 13th anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, which occurred on 14 December 2012. A gunman killed 26 people, including 20 children aged six and seven, in one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.
Exactly 13 years later, three violent attacks unfolded across different parts of the world within 24 hours:
Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia – A gunman opened fire during a Hanukkah celebration, killing 15 people.
Brooklyn, New York, U.S. – Six teenagers were shot and wounded at a birthday party.
Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, U.S. – Authorities are investigating an incident in which two people were killed and nine others injured.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, the United States has already recorded 392 mass shootings in 2025, highlighting the ongoing crisis of gun violence in the country.
Eilish’s message underscores the need for systemic reform, urging her fans and the public to take political action and demand meaningful change in gun legislation both nationally and globally.
