South Korean pop phenomenon BTS have cemented their position as an unrivaled powerhouse in the global live music industry, breaking a long-standing record previously held by rock legends The Rolling Stones. Deploying their highly anticipated “Arirang World Tour,” the septet created unprecedented history on the Billboard Boxscore charts, registering the highest-grossing single month for any touring act.
According to data published by Billboard, BTS generated a staggering $127.8 million (£98.3 million) from just 12 shows performed between 2 and 28 May. This exceptional box-office draw easily secured them the pinnacle of the “Top Tours” chart. Throughout May, the group sold over 641,000 tickets across the United States and Mexico, marking a historic milestone for Asian artists on the global stage.
The commercial crown jewel of their May schedule was a spectacular four-night residency in Las Vegas. These four performances alone accumulated $49.5 million, with 246,000 devotees filling the stadium. The tour maintained this relentless momentum across other North American territories, drawing massive crowds and rapturous acclaim in California, Texas, and Mexico City.
With this monumental monthly intake, BTS comfortably eclipsed the previous record of $95 million established by The Rolling Stones. The British rock icons had secured that benchmark in August 2019 during their critically acclaimed “No Filter Tour”. Ever since Billboard formalized its monthly concert-tracking chart system, the legendary British band maintained their dominance. BTS did not merely break the record; they reshaped the financial landscape of stadium touring by outperforming the previous record by more than $32 million.
This historic achievement carries profound emotional weight for the band and their global fanbase, known collectively as the ARMY. The “Arirang World Tour” represents the group’s first major live venture following a lengthy four-year hiatus, during which the members completed their mandatory South Korean military service.
The pop titans officially marked the end of their hiatus on 20 March with the release of their studio album, Arirang. They quickly transitioned to the stage, launching the world tour on 9 April. To date, the musical odyssey has accumulated $204 million in gross revenue and crossed 1.1 million in total ticket sales. With more than 50 stadium dates scheduled across the remainder of the year and extending into March 2027, the South Korean icons show no signs of slowing down their historic march.
