Christie’s to Auction Messi’s Signed Shirt and Shakira’s Outfits

Unforgettable moments from World Cup history are heading under the hammer in New York. Legendary auction house Christie’s is set to sell a remarkable collection of memorabilia, featuring an autographed shirt from Argentine superstar Lionel Messi, the official ball used during the final, and stage outfits worn by global pop icon Shakira.

Announced on Tuesday, the online bidding event opens on 22 July and will run for one week. All proceeds raised from the sale will go directly towards funding global educational initiatives for children. The philanthropic effort aims to raise $100 million for children’s education throughout the tournament.

Organised under the ‘One Goal Charity Auction’ banner, the event is a joint venture between football’s governing body FIFA and international advocacy group Global Citizen. Over 40 unique items linked to the tournament are up for purchase, ranging from artist-worn costumes and autographed match kit to official footballs.

Among the standout items, intense interest has already centered around a signed jersey worn by BTS singer Jimin during the final’s halftime activities, which has generated the highest bids so far. Meanwhile, the official match ball from the 19 July final carries a base reserve price of $15,000, though experts anticipate bids will easily double that figure before the auction closes.

Music fans and collectors will also have the chance to bid on iconic wardrobe pieces. The lot includes the vibrant yellow crop top and trousers worn by Colombian singer Shakira in the official music video for the 2026 World Cup song ‘Dai Dai’. Additionally, an autographed shirt signed by members of the United States men’s national team is featured in the collection.

Rounding off the auction is the bespoke outfit Shakira will wear during the tournament’s inaugural halftime show. Marking the first time a full halftime spectacle has been staged at a World Cup final, the 11-minute extravaganza will see Shakira share the global stage with Madonna, Justin Bieber, and South Korean pop sensation BTS.
