Drugs Seized in Shivalaya Raid

In a targeted anti-narcotics operation in Shivalaya Upazila under Manikganj District, district intelligence police arrested two alleged drug traffickers and recovered 450 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, according to local law enforcement officials.

The raid was conducted on Sunday at approximately 8:10 pm in the Tapra area of Shivalaya police jurisdiction. Acting on specific intelligence, the District Detective Branch (DB) carried out the operation in the courtyard of an abandoned residential property reportedly linked to a local resident identified as Pritish Shil.

Police sources confirmed that the operation was carried out under the directives of the Superintendent of Police of Manikganj and was overseen by the Officer-in-Charge of the District Detective Branch. The raid team was led by Sub-Inspector (unarmed) Abhijit Chowdhury, working under the supervision of Inspector (unarmed) Manabendra Balo.

During the operation, two suspects were apprehended on the spot. They were identified as Fayez Ahmed (32), son of Farhad Ali Ahmed and Mukul Begum, and Md. Jigir Ali (36), son of the late Tofser and Saleha Begum. Both individuals are residents of Shibrampur village within Shivalaya Upazila.

A total of 450 Yaba tablets were seized during the raid. Of these, 400 tablets were recovered from the possession of Fayez Ahmed, while the remaining 50 tablets were found with Md. Jigir Ali. Police estimate the total street value of the seized narcotics at approximately BDT 135,000.

Following the arrest and seizure, the recovered items were formally documented and taken into police custody as evidence. A case has since been filed under the Narcotics Control Act at Shivalaya Police Station, and further investigation is underway to determine the broader network involved in the trafficking operation.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict anti-drug enforcement measures across the district, stating that operations targeting drug dealers will continue unabated.
