The victim, Nanibala Chakraborty, wife of the late Debesh Chakraborty, was found bleeding profusely on the floor of her residence. Neighbors rushed to the scene after a local resident entered the house and discovered her lying incapacitated, raising an immediate alarm. Relatives were alerted shortly afterwards, and her son quickly transported her to Manikganj Medical College Hospital. Due to the severity of her injuries and deteriorating condition, attending doctors referred her to a specialised hospital in Dhaka for advanced emergency care.

Local police officers arrived at the scene to commence preliminary inquiries into the violent attack. Monir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station, confirmed that Nanibala Chakraborty lived alone in the ancestral home, while her sons resided separately in another residence within the same municipal ward.

Relatives noted that the elderly woman routinely wore several items of gold jewellery. However, when rescuers discovered her body, all her ornaments were missing. Police officers conducting the initial inspection suspect that criminals broke into the residence with the explicit intention of committing robbery. They believe the perpetrators slashed the elderly woman’s throat with a sharp weapon to silence her before stripping her of the valuable items.

The brazen morning attack on a vulnerable, solitary resident has sparked widespread concern and anxiety across the Purba Dashra neighbourhood. Manikganj Sadar Police confirmed that an investigation is under way to track down the assailants. Officers are gathering physical evidence from the crime scene and interviewing potential witnesses to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime.
