A young man named Russel, aged 28, has died one week after sustaining critical injuries in a head-on motorcycle collision on the Chuadanga-Jhenaidah highway. The accident occurred directly in front of the Chuadanga Battalion (6 Border Guard Bangladesh) headquarters. Along with the deceased, two other individuals sustained severe injuries during the traffic incident and received medical attention.
The deceased, Russel, was the son of Shamim, who is also known locally as Shyamal. He was a resident of Akundabaria village, situated within the Chuadanga Sadar Upazila.
According to official accounts provided by law enforcement personnel and family members of the victims, the incident took place on 7 June 2026 at approximately 2:00 pm. Russel was travelling by motorcycle from Sarojganj Bazar towards Chuadanga town. As his motorcycle arrived at the area directly in front of the 6 BGB Battalion headquarters, another oncoming motorcycle travelling from the opposite direction collided head-on with his vehicle.
The high-impact collision left three individuals severely injured. The casualties were identified as Russel, aged 28, Boni Amin, aged 25, and Pintu Hossain, aged 30. Local residents and bystanders immediately gathered at the scene of the accident to rescue the victims. They arranged for the three injured individuals to be transported to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where they were admitted for emergency medical treatment.
As the treatment progressed, Russel’s physical condition began to deteriorate significantly. Due to the severity of his injuries, the attending medical staff decided to transfer him to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced clinical care. He remained under close medical supervision at the facility for several days. Despite receiving specialized treatment, Russel succumbed to his injuries while undergoing care at the hospital on Monday, 15 June 2026, at approximately 9:00 am.
The father of the deceased, Shamim, confirmed the details regarding his son’s medical treatment. He stated that Russel had been receiving continuous medical care at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital ever since the day of the road accident. He further noted that his son passed away while undergoing treatment at the medical facility on Sunday morning. Following the completion of the necessary official and medical procedures, Russel’s body was returned to his family. In the evening, his funeral prayers were held, and he was subsequently buried at the Akandabaria Government Graveyard.
The Officer-in-Charge of the Darsana Police Station, Nazrul Islam, verified the facts of the road traffic accident and the subsequent death of the young man. Road safety concerns and the high frequency of head-on collisions involving two-wheelers remain a notable subject of reportage within regional administrative zones. The local authorities have noted the incident as part of their ongoing documentation of traffic accidents occurring on the major highway routes connecting Chuadanga with adjacent districts like Jhenaidah. The condition of the remaining two injured individuals, Boni Amin and Pintu Hossain, who were initially admitted to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital alongside Russel, remains under observation by local medical authorities following the collision outside the border guard facility.
