Police in Dhaka have detained fifty-three individuals following coordinated raids on two separate spa establishments located in the upscale Gulshan district of the capital. The enforcement operations were executed on Wednesday night by officers belonging to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). Additional Deputy Commissioner Niaz Mehedi, speaking on behalf of the DMP media and public relations division, officially confirmed the details of the sweeping crackdown on Thursday morning.

According to law enforcement briefings, the targeted raids were initiated following reliable intelligence reports regarding illegal activities taking place within the wellness premises. The coordinated police action commenced at approximately 8:00 pm and successfully concluded by 9:30 pm, during which time police secured both locations and detained all occupants present.

Among the fifty-three individuals taken into custody, twenty-four are men and twenty-nine are women. Authorities have initiated formal legal proceedings against all detained persons under relevant statutory provisions.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Mehedi emphasised that law enforcement agencies will maintain a strict stance against unlawful operations disguised as commercial wellness centres and entertainment venues. He confirmed that similar targeted police operations across Dhaka will continue in the coming days to curb illegal activities in residential and commercial districts.
