The fire started at around 10.30am on 24 October in the Shailan area of Kashimpur Police Station, within Gazipur metropolitan area. The blaze occurred at the factory’s carton facility, where a large quantity of empty cartons was stored.
Ariful Islam, an official at Kashimpur Fire Service, said two units from the Kashimpur Mini Fire Service Station reached the scene after receiving information about the fire and began efforts to bring it under control.
As the intensity of the blaze increased, three additional units from the Sarabo Fire Service Station were deployed to assist. A total of five units are now working to contain the fire.
According to the Fire Service official, the substantial quantity of empty cartons inside the facility has contributed to the severity of the incident. Paper-based packaging materials can allow flames to spread rapidly, making firefighting operations more challenging when large quantities are stored in an enclosed space.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. No information has yet been confirmed regarding the extent of damage to the factory or the materials stored inside.
The immediate priority for the responding firefighters is to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. The full extent of the damage is expected to become clearer once the fire has been brought under control and the affected premises can be assessed.
Industrial fires can pose significant risks to workers, nearby facilities and stored materials, particularly in buildings containing combustible packaging products. Rapid emergency response is therefore essential to limit potential damage and protect lives.
As firefighting operations continue at the Supreme Garments facility in Kashimpur, authorities have yet to establish what triggered the incident. No injuries or deaths have been reported at the time of writing. Further details about the cause of the fire and the resulting losses were not immediately available.
