The month of May represents the final chapter of the 2025–26 European club football calendar. Across the continent, domestic leagues are scheduled to conclude within the next four weeks, with various divisions ending on the 17th, 24th, or 31st of May. However, the identity of the champions in four prominent leagues could be determined as early as this weekend. This includes top-tier divisions such as Spain’s La Liga and Italy’s Serie A, alongside the Portuguese Primeira Liga and the Turkish Süper Lig.
In Spain, 33 rounds of fixtures have been completed, leaving five matches remaining in the season. FC Barcelona currently lead the table with 85 points, maintaining an 11-point advantage over second-placed Real Madrid, who sit on 74 points. Barcelona are scheduled to face Osasuna tonight, while Real Madrid will play Espanyol tomorrow evening.
Should Barcelona secure a victory and Real Madrid subsequently lose or draw, Barcelona will officially claim their 29th La Liga title. In such a scenario, the gap would widen to 12 or 14 points with only 12 points left to play for, making it mathematically impossible for Real Madrid to overtake them. Barcelona also hold the advantage in goal difference and head-to-head records.
In Italy, 34 matches have been contested. Inter Milan lead the standings with 79 points, followed by Napoli on 69 and AC Milan on 67. With only four matches remaining, Inter Milan could secure their 21st Scudetto as early as tomorrow. A victory against 12th-placed Parma would guarantee the title regardless of other results.
The title could even be decided tonight if Napoli lose to Como and AC Milan fail to defeat Sassuolo tomorrow. If Napoli draw their fixture, Inter Milan would only require a draw against Parma to be crowned champions.
In the Turkish Süper Lig, Galatasaray hold a 7-point lead over Fenerbahçe after 31 matches. A victory tonight against Samsunspor would confirm Galatasaray as champions. Due to their superior goal difference, they could also clinch the title if Fenerbahçe fail to better their result against Başakşehir. This would mark Galatasaray’s fourth consecutive league title.
In Portugal, FC Porto lead Benfica by 7 points with three matches remaining. Porto will secure the title if they defeat Alverca tonight. However, if Benfica lose to Famalicão in an earlier kick-off, Porto will be confirmed as champions before they even take the pitch.
| League | Current Leader | Points (Played) | Closest Rival | Points Gap | Potential Title Date |
| La Liga (Spain) | Barcelona | 85 (33) | Real Madrid | 11 | Tomorrow |
| Serie A (Italy) | Inter Milan | 79 (34) | Napoli | 10 | Tonight/Tomorrow |
| Süper Lig (Turkey) | Galatasaray | 74 (31) | Fenerbahçe | 07 | Tonight |
| Primeira Liga (Portugal) | FC Porto | 82 (31) | Benfica | 07 | Tonight |
For these clubs to celebrate this weekend, the following conditions must be met:
Barcelona: Must win against Osasuna, and Real Madrid must drop points against Espanyol.
Inter Milan: A win against Parma guarantees the title; alternatively, they rely on Napoli and AC Milan dropping points.
Galatasaray: A win against Samsunspor ensures their fourth successive trophy.
FC Porto: A win against Alverca, or any result where Benfica fails to gain more points than Porto in this round.
These developments signify a swift conclusion to several of Europe’s most prestigious domestic competitions, as the dominant teams look to mathematically secure their respective honours ahead of the final matchdays.
